Seven candidates file papers for six seats on MP board

Most county school districts will have contested school board elections in September as the ballot has been finalized for the Sept. 8 vote.
Nomination papers were due at the end of last week for placement on the ballot.
The slate of the candidates in the county school districts is as follows. All are four-year terms unless otherwise specified.

Most county school districts will have contested school board elections in September as the ballot has been finalized for the Sept. 8 vote.
Nomination papers were due at the end of last week for placement on the ballot.
The slate of the candidates in the county school districts is as follows. All are four-year terms unless otherwise specified.
MT. PLEASANT COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT
District 1 (two-year term to fill vacancy) ? Dave Christensen;
District 3 ? Karl E. Braun;
District 4 ? Chuck Andrew;
District 5 (two-year term to fill vacancy) ? Joy Lynn Conwell;
Board member at large (vote for no more than two) ? Jennifer L. Crull, Terry K. Jerrel and David L. McCoid.
Mt. Pleasant elects all but two of its directors by district through an at-large vote.
Polling hours are from noon-8 p.m. at Cottrell Gymnasium or the Salem Community Center.
NEW LONDON COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT
Board member at-large (vote for no more than three) ? Melissa Anderson, Travis Benz, Laurie Hempen, Erica Pickle, Skye Wellingotn.
Voting will be at the New London Community Center from noon-8 p.m.
WINFIELD-MT. UNION
SCHOOL DISTRICT
Board member at-large (vote for no more than three) ? Stacey Buffington, Klay Edwards and Daniel Schnurr.
Board member at-large (two-year term, vote for no more than one) ? Jay Nelson, John Vantiger.
Voters will cast ballots at the Winfield City Hall from noon-8 p.m.
WACO COMMUNITY
SCHOOL DISTRICT
District 1 ? Brooke Carter;
District 4 ? Amy J. McLaughlin.
WACO School District patrons will also be voting on a 10-year, voter-approved physical plant and equipment property tax not to exceed $1.34 per $1,000 of assessed valuation. If approved, the levy will allow the district to shift some of its financial obligations from state sales tax receipts and use state sales tax funds to pay for the district?s solar energy system. The measure takes a simple majority (50 percent plus one) for passage.
Voting will take place at the Wayland City Hall from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
