FT. MADISON ? The Mt. Pleasant seventh grade girls? basketball team finished their season on Monday, Feb. 22, with a sweep in Ft. Madison, as the ?A? team won, 29-23, and the ?B? team was victorious, 22-11.
The Panthers? ?A? team outscored the Bloodhounds, 15-2, in the first half to take a commanding lead. Mt. Pleasant led 25-10 after three quarters. Ft. Madison made a run in the fourth, but the Panther held on for the six-point victory.
Emma Rugg led the ?A? team with 12 points in the win. Emma Huckabone had six, Kalyssa Longhurst and Avery Sutter scored four apiece, and Elli Liechty had three.
In the ?B? game, Ft. Madison was leading, 4-2, after one quarter. The Panthers outscored the Bloodhounds, 8-0 in the second quarter to take a 10-4 halftime lead, and eventually ran the score to double digits in the fourth quarter.
Mikayla Ackles scored eight points in the win. Ryann Davidson had six. Noel Stewart scored four, and the trio of Cristina Carthey, Abby Jalas and Emma Pieper had two apiece.
The seventh grade Panthers finished the year with a combined 21-1 record. The ?A? team was 10-1, and the ?B? team was an unblemished 11-0.
