Shannon L. McMurray

Shannon L. McMurray, age 43 of Riverside, formerly of Eldon, passed away at 4:50 AM, Friday, December 2 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.

A funeral service will be held at 9:00 AM, Thursday, December 8 at Grace Funeral Care of Eldon (formerly Kremer Funeral Home). Burial will be at Competine Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday evening at Grace Funeral Care.

Shannon Lynette was born on July 11, 1968. She was educated in Davis County, and graduated from Davis County High School in 1987. She then attended the Iowa School of Beauty in Ottumwa. On August 26, 1995 she married Troy McMurray in Eldon, and they were later divorced.

Survivors include one son, Colton McMurray of Fairfield; two daughters, Tomara McMurray of Fairfield, and Rickaya McMurray of Riverside; one sister, Paula Otis and husband Tim of Maine; one brother, Jimmy Ball and wife Martha of Bloomfield; her best friend Hope Harrelson of Carlisle; and generous friends and caregivers, Troy McMurray and Ronda Wilson.

She was preceded in death by her grandmother Evelyn Garber, and father-in-law Richard Kness.

Shannon was a department manager at Walmart, and especially enjoyed working in the garden center. She had also worked as a CNA for several years. Shannon enjoyed riding Harley Davidson motorcycles and spending time with her friends.

A memorial fund is being established to assist the family with funeral expenses, and funds may be left at Grace Funeral Care in Eldon.
