Jefferson County Sheriff?s Office responded to an accident at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at 2200 Highway 1. Jason Michael Loeher of Birmingham was driving a 1997 Chevrolet Geo Metro south on Highway 1 when he struck a cow in the road. His car sustained disabling/severe damage to the front end and hood, estimated at $1,600. Cow owner Bill Haines was on the scene when deputies arrived. Damage to the cow is estimated at $900.
