The Jefferson County Sheriff?s Office responded to an accident at 5:14 p.m. Thursday on Highway 34. According to the accident report, a 2000 Ford Aerostar driven by Deseree Dawn Tully of Batavia was eastbound when Tully signaled to pull into the left lane and turn left onto Dewberry Avenue. A 2011 Toyota Sienna driven by Stephen Keith Kirk of Burlington also was eastbound. Kirk was following a truck when he pulled into the left lane to pass. He saw Tully?s signal and applied the brakes, but the brake pedal went to the floor, and contact was made. Kirk was cited for speed restrictions, and Tully was cited for no proof of insurance. Estimated damages are $15,000 to Kirk?s vehicle and $3,000 to Tully?s vehicle.
