The Jefferson County Sheriff?s Office responded to theft and vandalism reported on behalf of Zehr Electric at 7:33 a.m. Friday. Estimated damages to wiring at the New Sweden church are $500. An estimated $1,000 worth of wire was stolen.

Ricky Joe Vaughn, 32, of Stockport was arrested at 7:17 p.m. Saturday on Highway 34 at Lockridge for driving while barred.
The sheriff?s office responded to an accident at 4:10 p.m. Thursday, 4 miles west of Fairfield at the intersection of Highway 34 and Packwood Road. According to the accident report, a 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix driven by Jewel Arlene Peiffer of Batavia stopped southbound at a stop sign and then pulled onto Highway 34 into the lane of a westbound 1991 Chevy K3500 driven by David James Kurnes of Bloomfield. Kurnes struck Peiffer and came to rest in the median. Peiffer was cited for failure to yield when entering a through highway. Estimated damages are $3,000 to Peiffer?s vehicle and $2,000 to Kurnes? vehicle.
The sheriff?s office responded to an accident at 11:48 p.m. Sunday, a quarter mile west of Lockridge on 218th Boulevard. According to the accident report, a 1998 Dodge Grand Caravan driven by Rebecca Sue Leenerts, 25, of Lockridge was westbound when it swerved to miss a deer. The vehicle ran onto a closed portion of the road and off the right side. Leenerts overcorrected, and the vehicle ran off the left side of the road, rolled twice in the ditch and came to rest on its wheels. Estimated damages to the vehicle are $4,000.
