Jefferson County Sheriff?s Office responded to a two-vehicle accident at 6:42 a.m. Friday about 2.5 miles east of Fairfield on Highway 34. Kolby Lea Freeman of Mt. Pleasant was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado on the off ramp and approaching the intersection with Business 34, was unable to stop because of snowy conditions and traveled into the intersection, where Freeman collided with Robert Lee Kistler of Fairfield driving a 1997 Toyota Tacoma. No citations were issued. The Silverado had an estimated $2,500 in damages; the Tacoma, about $5,000.
Sheriff deputies responded to a deer/vehicle accident at 8:29 p.m. Friday about 1.5 miles north of Four Corners, Lockridge. A 2005 Chevrolette Uplander struck a deer on Vetch Avenue south of Salina Road, causing an estimated $1,500 in damages to the vehicle.
Sheriff deputies responded at 11:49 p.m. Friday to a two-vehicle accident on Highway 34 about 0.10 mile west of Spruce Avenue. David Alan Wesely of Lockridge was driving a 2003 four-door Ford Taurus east on Highway 34. He told deputies he had the car on cruise control at 68 mph and may have fallen asleep at the wheel when he collided with the vehicle in front of him, a 2007 Chrysler van, also eastbound, driven by Rafael Camacho Rosales Jr. of Fairfield, who said he was driving at 55 mph. Rosales was transported to Jefferson County Health Center by Midwest Ambulance. Wesley was cited for failure to stop in an assured clear distance. The Taurus had an estimated $4,000 in damages; the Chrysler an estimated $6,000.
