The Jefferson County Sheriff?s Office investigated an accident at 8:06 a.m. Monday on Kelp Avenue north of Gear Avenue. John David Helterbran, 15, of 1196 Mahogany Avenue, was driving a 1995 Pontiac Grand Prix south on Kelp Avenue, lost control, left the road to the right, went through a ditch, grazed off a utility pole and came to rest in a field. The vehicle has an estimated $2,000 in damages.
