The Jefferson County Sheriff?s Office responded to an accident at 5:07 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of Pleasant Plain Road and 116th Street. According to the accident report, a westbound 1999 Mercury Sable driven by John Hahn Ardell, 90, of Brighton stopped at the intersection before entering Pleasant Plain Road, where it was struck by a northbound 1995 Dodge Dakota driven by Gary Lynn Roberts, 53, of Brighton. Ardell was cited for failure to yield when entering a through highway. Estimated damages are $1,000 to Roberts? vehicle and $1,500 to Ardell?s vehicle.
The sheriff?s office responded to an accident at 10:25 a.m. Sunday, 2 miles north of Fairfield on Jasmine Avenue. A 1999 Toyota Camry driven by Brian Jacobsen, 1703 Kosola Ave., C2, was southbound when it struck a deer. Estimated damages to the vehicle are $2,000.
The sheriff?s office responded to an accident at 8:49 a.m. Saturday, a half mile north of Fairfield on Larch Avenue. According to the accident report, a 1999 Honda Accord driven by Raphael Jacob Gelfand, 2040 Jade Lane, was southbound when it swerved to miss a deer. The vehicle struck the west ditch, turned 180 degrees and struck a utility pole. Estimated damages are $6,000 to the vehicle and $500 to the pole.
The sheriff?s office responded to an accident at 5:35 p.m. Saturday, 2 miles southwest of Libertyville on Douds Road. According to the accident report, a 2007 Ford Mustang driven by Jessica Chae Keiper, 26, of Libertyville was backing out of a private drive when it was struck by a southbound 1998 Dodge truck driven by Jacob Ryan Kitzman, 26, 207 E. Hempstead Ave. Kitzman was unable to stop and broadsided Keiper. Kitzman?s vehicle went off the west side of the road, and Keiper?s vehicle went off the east side of the road. Estimated damages are $5,000 to Kitzman?s vehicle and $12,000 to Keiper?s vehicle.
The sheriff?s office responded to an accident at 9:23 p.m. Friday, 3 miles north of Fairfield on Highway 1. A 1999 Pontiac van driven by Emily Ann Stevens, 21, 703 1/2 N. Second St., was southbound when it struck a deer. Estimated damages to the vehicle are $1,500.
