Jefferson County Sheriff?s Office responded to a one-car accident at 12:56 a.m. today in Brighton. Katelyn Louise Coop, 18, of 2347 142nd St., was driving a 2002 Oldsmobile Alero GL eastbound on 110th Street when she swerved to avoid a deer in the road. She ran off the right side of the road, struck a culvert and a ditch embankment, causing an estimated $2,000 damage to the car.

Coop was arrested at 3:12 a.m. today at the Jefferson County Law Enforcement Center, charged with operating while intoxicated, first offense.
