Jefferson County Sheriff?s Department responded to an accident at 11:58 a.m. Thursday on Highway 34 just east of Fairfield exit 210. A semi truck loaded with half a mobile home was driving west in the right lane. A second semi truck also driving west attempted to pass in the left lane. The passing truck struck the side mirror on the semi carrying the mobile home, causing the two trucks to be hooked together. At some point the two rigs separated and the semi carrying the mobile home jack-knifed and came to rest on the right shoulder of the highway. Both rigs sustained substantial damage. No injuries were reported. The passing truck was cited for unsafe passing.
