Jefferson County Sheriff responded to a traffic accident at 8:46 p.m. Monday in Lockridge. Weston Ross Barton of Mount Pleasant was driving a 2001 Chevrolet S10 pickup truck east on Main Street; while in the 200 block, he glanced down at his cell phone, veered right and side-swiped a parked and unoccupied 2000 Chevrolet Camero, which had an estimated $2,000 in damages; Barton then hit the driver?s rear panel of a 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse, parked and unoccupied, which had an estimated $5,000 in damages; and drove up over the driver?s rear corner of a parked and unoccupied 2004 Ford Focus, which had an estimated $5,000 in damages. Barton?s pickup came to rest in the middle of the street, overturned on the driver?s side. His truck had an estimated $5,000 in damages. All three parked vehicles that were hit are owned by Jackie Lee Pohren II. Barton was cited for failure to maintain control.
