Henry County Sheriff Allen Wittmer has released a notice to county citizens to be alert of suspicious activity nearby.
The release said, ?With recent increase of thefts and burglaries in Henry County and surrounding areas, the sheriff?s office is suggesting residents take precautions with their property.?
As part of the precations, the statement said, ?When you?re not home, lock your residence and your vehicles. Remove keys from four-wheelers, lawnmowers, tractors etc. Do not leave valuables in your vehicles such as money, jewelry or extra house keys.?
According to recent press releases from local officials, at least four all terrain vehicles (ATVs) in Henry County have been stolen since July 23.
?Law enforcement cannot be everywhere and we need the help of the residents of the county. Please be aware of your surroundings, call in any suspicious vehicles or persons around your residence. Be a good neighbor and call in suspicious activities in the neighborhood. We as law enforcement would much rather respond to a suspicious activity/person report and have it be nothing then have to respond to burglary where one of our county residents have suffered a loss or damage to property. Remember, anything, no matter how insignificant you think it might be, could be the key to solving or preventing thefts and burglaries,? said the sheriff?s press release.
Wittmer did advise that his office has not recieved any reports of church burlgaries or vandalism in the county.
