Henry County Sheriff?s deputies have investigated three accidents this week, filing charges against drivers in two of the accidents.
Along with the Wayland First Responders and the Henry County Ambulance, the sheriff?s office responded April 27 to a single-vehicle accident in the 1300 grid of Ash Avenue.
It was learned that James Joel Anderson, 53, of Brighton, failed to maintain control of his vehicle and drove off the roadway into the west ditch while rounding a curve on Ash Avenue.
Anderson was cited for driving under suspension, failure to maintain control and failure to have an interlock device in the vehicle while operating it.
Anderson refused medical attention at the scene. The accident remains under investigation.
Deputies were called to a car-deer accident April 26 on Highway 78, west of Winfield.
A vehicle driven by Jennifer Hughes, of Winfield, struck a deer in the roadway, causing an estimated $1,500 damage to the front of her vehicle. No injury was reported.
A single vehicle rollover was reported April 24 near the intersection of New London Road and 250th Street.
During the course of the investigation, it was determined that Ian Scholl, 34, of Ft. Madison, was the driver of the vehicle. Scholl?s five-year-old son was traveling with him when Scholl lost control and overturned the vehicle.
Scholl was charged with operating while intoxicated, a serious misdemeanor, and child endangerment, an aggravated misdemeanor.
A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
