Sheriff?s Office notified of two phone scams
A pair of phone scams has been reported recently to the Henry County Sheriff?s Office.
The office has received several complaints of scammers calling citizens within Henry County using local numbers. The scammers attempt to get bank information and identity information from individuals by saying you have won a free stay at a Marriott Hotel. A pair of phone scams has been reported recently to the Henry County Sheriff?s Office.
The office has received several complaints of scammers calling citizens within Henry County using local numbers. The scammers attempt to get bank information and identity information from individuals by saying you have won a free stay at a Marriott Hotel. The scammers are masking their numbers with local numbers.
The second scam involves the Publishers? Clearing House. An investigation revealed that unknown individuals would place telephone calls stating that subject has won money.
Then, the caller will request a Money Gram be sent to a predetermined location before winnings can be collected. The calls were determined to be a scam as Publishers? Clearing House will not ask for money in order for winnings to be collected.
Law enforcement personnel reminds citizens of the potential for scams and to always be skeptical and informed.
