Sheriff?s office to collect medications April 28
The Jefferson County Sheriff?s Office and Drug Enforcement Administration will give the public an opportunity to dispose of potentially dangerous expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs April 28.
Medications will be accepted at the Jefferson County Law Enforcement Center between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. to help prevent pill abuse and theft. The service is free and anonymous, with no questions asked.

Medications will be accepted at the Jefferson County Law Enforcement Center between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. to help prevent pill abuse and theft. The service is free and anonymous, with no questions asked.
In October, Americans turned in 377,080 pounds, or 188.5 tons, of prescription drugs at more than 5,300 sites operated by the DEA and nearly 4,00 state and local law enforcement partners. During the three previous opportunities, almost a million pounds, or 500 tons, of pills were collected.
