WASHINGTON — Police in Washington said they arrested two people after shots were fired near the 200 block of West Madison Street around 3:45 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6.
A news release issued by the department said an officer observed two Chevrolets headed east from the Madison-South Avenue B intersection “with one of the vehicles attached to the other.” The two cars “eventually came to a stop, just north of the intersection of East Washington and South Ninth.”
According to the news release, the first vehicle, driven by Aaron Kron of Riverside, had backed into the other car. As Kron drove away, a passenger in the still-attached second vehicle, Daegan Brown of Brighton, allegedly fired a handgun at Kron’s. Neither the news release nor court records available Monday morning specified how many shots were fired.
The department said the incident remained under investigation, but that it had arrested Kron on charges of assault while displaying a dangerous weapon, and Brown on charges of intimidation with a dangerous weapon. Both were booked at the Washington County Jail.
Court records in the cases filed Monday morning said Kron had rammed into the other car while it was stopped legally behind him at a red light. Other court documents showed traffic tickets for Kron on the same date, accusing him of reckless driving, violating a one-way and backing unsafely on a highway, although some of records gave a time around 9:30 p.m. Sunday, hours after the afternoon crash.
Police said there were no reports of injuries from the shooting or the collision, as of the news release’s publication Sunday night. Washington Police Chief Jim Lester did not immediately return a request for comments.
