Whether you are new to sewing, have a little experience or are a veteran quilter, this event is guaranteed to provide an afternoon of fun and a completed quilt top!
The fourth annual Louisa County Quilt Race will be held on Wednesday, July 24, 1 p.m. in the Youth Center at the Louisa County Fairgrounds in Columbus Junction.
This year’s event again includes a great lineup of prizes. Thanks to The Warm Company, this year’s winner will again receive a full roll of Warm & Natural Batting (valued at more than $275). Second place is a gift certificate from local quilter Deb Alf to have your quilt top quilted. And Third place is a gift certificate from Neal’s Sewing Center in Muscatine. A bevy of smaller prizes will be awarded to entrants.
Quilt Race Details:
There is no entry fee; entrants must purchase their “jelly roll” (fabric strip set) when arriving at the event; a variety of colors will be available. The quilt race is open to all ages. Sewing/quilting skills are not required; entrants will simply be sewing straight seams. The focus of this event is to see which contestant can finish sewing their strips together as instructed in the least amount of time.
