City crews on Thursday began removing the piles of snow on the square that remained from this week?s snow event. Here, the workers take care of the snow on Monroe Street. Rain, perhaps an inch or more, is predicted for this weekend, which will go a long way to reducing snow cover in the area. Last year at this time, we were about to enter a long spell of considerably above-normal temperatures with several 70-degree days in March.
