Soccer and wrestling to stay at W-MU

WINFIELD ? Students at Winfield-Mt. Union will continue to be able to participate in soccer and wrestling, according to the W-MU School Board.

WINFIELD ? Students at Winfield-Mt. Union will continue to be able to participate in soccer and wrestling, according to the W-MU School Board.
The board met last week and unanimously approved a sharing agreement for the upcoming school year between W-MU and Columbus Community School District. The two districts currently have a sharing agreement for the two sports.
The board members also approved an agreement with BLDD Architects. The agreement will be for engineering the roofing project. The company?s fee is $18,000.
In other construction business, updates to the school?s bathrooms were also unanimously approved.
The district will receive new stools and urinals from Taft Wiley for $8,418.94, and new partitions from VIPS for $7,200.21.
Looking forward to the upcoming year, the board members approved the 2017-18 school calendar and set a budget hearing on April 12, at 6 p.m., in the library for the fiscal year 2018 budget.
Lastly, the board accepted the resignation of elementary teacher, Corriene Culver, and approved the hiring of Travis Jones, junior high boys? track coach, and Josie Carpenter as the junior high girls? softball coach.
The next meeting of the W-MU School Board will be held on Wednesday, April 12, at 6 p.m., in the school?s media center.
