Gymnastics troupe has success at first meet
Ide Gymnastics, based in Fairfield, traveled to Dunkerton this past weekend for competition.
Olivia McClaran received two first place trophies, one in the double mini novice 11-year old girls category and one in the trampoline intermediate girl?s 11-12-year olds category. Kiara Bickham received first place in the trampoline beginner category.

Gymnastics troupe has success at first meet
Ide Gymnastics, based in Fairfield, traveled to Dunkerton this past weekend for competition.

Other medal winners from Ide Gymnastics were Ella Pollet, Juliette Pohren and Amber Burroughs.
Coaches Jeff and Jeanne Ide will compete again Saturday in Rock Island, Ill.
Wrestling club to begin practices Monday
The Stars and Stripes wrestling club will begin practice Monday in the Fairfield High School wreslting room.
The club is for kids second grade through eighth grade. Second and third graders will practice from 6:15 to 7 p.m. while fourth through eighth graders will practice from 7 to 8 p.m. Practices will take place on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings.
The club is headed by Fairfield head coach Steve Miller. Adam Foreman and Randy Fulsaas will assist with coaching duties.
The fee is $40 per person, but only $25 dollars for an additional family member or a Fairfield Middle School wrestler. The fee goes toward club T-shirts, tournament entry, instruction, and an end of the year party.
To register, bring a completed registration form and payment to the first practice. Checks should be made payable to Fairfield Park and Recreation. Questions can be answered by calling Miller at 515-290-3910 or the Fairfield Park and Recreation office.
Iowa State defeats South Dakota
AMES (AP) ? Hallie Christofferson hit her second double-double of the season, scoring 25 points and nabbing 12 rebounds to lead Iowa State to an 88-72 victory over South Dakota on Wednesday night.
Christofferson sank 7 of 21 from the floor and was perfect from the foul line, hitting 10 of 10. She also had two assists for the Cyclones (2-0). Guard Nicky Moody scored 20 points with four rebounds, seven assists and two steals. Brynn Williamson hit 6 of 9 from the floor and 3 of 9 from the 3-point line for a total of 18 points.
The Cyclones overcame South Dakota on a 21-3 run with eight minutes left the second half to seal the victory.
The high scorer for the Coyotes (1-2) was Nicole Seekamp with 21 points and a team-high seven assists. Raeshel Contreras came off the bench to score 15 points for South Dakota.
