Fairfield JV loses close home game
The Fairfield JV boys? basketball team was defeated 50-48 by Ottumwa Monday at Fairfield High School.
Nick Higgins led the squad with 15 points. Alex Simpson and Cameron Baumann each put in nine points. Landen Greiner led the team with 13 rebounds and five assists.
The Trojans are now 6-13 on the season.

Fairfield JV loses close home game

Fairfield gymnasts win first place trophies in Grimes
Nine different gymnasts who participate in Ide Gymnastics brought home 15 first place trophies after competing in Grimes at the Mid-Iowa Gymnastics Snowflake Invitational on Feb. 8 and 9.
Alexis Jirak and Michelle Zhang each placed first in the vault, beam and all-around competitions.
Alexis Jirak, Alani Diyaljee, Taryn Scheuermann, Kristin Burnstedt and Ashlyn Elmore placed first in bars. Ella Jirak, Alexis Jirak, Kaitlyn Greiner, and Kaitlyn Scheuermann placed first in floor exercises.
Second place trophies were presented to Hermela Gebremariam for the vault, bars, floor and all-around competition. Other second place trophies went to Maya Lane for vault, Diyaljee for floor, Kaitlyn Scheuermann for bars, beam, and all-around, Brookelynn Silvers for vault, Bryanna Popejoy for vault, Zhang for bars and floor, and Madalyn Rauscher for bars and beam.
ISPA State Pool Championships set to begin
The 19th annual Iowa State Poolplayer?s Association State Pool Championships will begin April 2nd at the Iowa Events Center in Des Moines.
This tournament is the largest independent state level amateur pool competition in the country. More than 4,000 participants will enter and 160 pool tables will be brought in from Colorado to accomodate the five day event.
There will be singles, doubles, and five-person events with multiple divisions based on ability for both men and women. More than $120,000 in prize money will be awarded this year.
