State AG visits Washington County
Apr. 6, 2023 10:58 am
DES MOINES — Attorney General Brenna Bird met with Washington County law enforcement Friday to talk about how the Attorney General’s Office can partner with local leaders to keep Iowa’s communities safe.
During her visit, Bird met with members of the Washington County attorney and sheriff’s offices, Washington Police Department and other community leaders. Conversations centered on a partnership between the Attorney General’s Office and local law enforcement to address the fentanyl crisis, seek justice for victims, and hold criminals accountable.
“Our office is working with law enforcement across the state to keep Iowa families safe,” Bird said. “Iowa law enforcement heroes are on the ground each day, defending victims, protecting our streets, and answering our calls for help. By working together to keep our communities safe, I know that we are poised for better days ahead.”
Bird is traveling the state each week as part of her commitment to work in all 99 counties each year. These visits are focused on building relationships with law enforcement officers, county attorneys, and other local leaders to best serve Iowans across the state. Washington County marks the 57th county she has traveled to since taking office Jan. 3.
