State patrol

Iowa State Patrol reported a fatal crash at 1:05 p.m. Thursday on Highway 92, 7.5 miles west of Oskaloosa in Mahaska County. Derrikk T. Crawford, 23, of Fairfield, was killed in a collision. He was driving a 2005 Jeep Liberty eastbound on Highway 92; he crossed the centerline, colliding head-on with a 2006 Peterbuilt semi-tractor trailer truck traveling westbound, driven by Shane K. Mock, 25, of West Plains, Mo. The truck entered the north ditch where it jackknifed and came to rest. The Jeep was pushed backwards and into the south ditch where it came to rest on its side. Crawford was taken by ambulance to Mahaska County Hospital. In addition to the state patrol, assisting at the accident scene were Mahaska County South Iowa Department of Transportation Enforcement and Maintenance and rural fire.
