Iowa State Patrol reports an accident at 2:32 p.m. Sept. 26, on North Fourth Street at the intersection of Dimick Drive, a private drive on the Maharishi University of Management campus. Iowa State Patrol reports an accident at 2:32 p.m. Sept. 26, on North Fourth Street at the intersection of Dimick Drive, a private drive on the Maharishi University of Management campus. Mark Alan Ales, 60 of Fairfield, was driving a 2005 Dodge Caravan, north on Fourth Street. Jefferson County Deputy Sheriff Gregg Morton, 48 of Fairfield, was driving a 2007 Dodge Charger, north, two cars behind Ales. Morton was responding to a law enforcement emergency with lights and siren activated. Morton passed a car and was passing Ales?s van when Ales began turning left into Dimick Drive. The driver?s side front of the van and the passenger side of the deputy?s vehicle collided. Damage to Ales?s van was estimated at $3,000. Damage to the law enforcement Charger was estimated at $4,000. According to the state patrol accident report, Ales?s passenger, Christine Fechner, went to the hospital the day after the collision with a complaint of pain. She was not admitted to the hospital. Ales was cited for failure to yield to an emergency vehicle.
