Iowa State Patrol reports an accident occurred at 6:50 a.m. Oct. 3, in Jefferson County on Highway 34, two miles west of Fairfield. Martin Kyle Overtuff, 63, of Ottumwa was driving a 2003 Buick LES eastbound on Highway 34 when he struck a deer in the roadway. Damage to his car is estimated at $4,000.
