PACKWOOD ? The Pekin softball team won its seventh straight Southeast Iowa Superconference north division game, dropping IMS in five innings Thursday.
Behind six multi-hit performances and a total of 16 hits, the Panthers poured in 11 runs in the first three innings to pick up a quick 15-5 victory.
?I was real pleased with our effort being Senior Night,? said Pekin head coach Bryan Marlay. ?We?re playing the best softball we have these last few weeks.?
Leslie Stone, who was 3 for 4 with a double and pair of RBI, won her 19th game from the mound tossing five innings of five run ball. The junior allowed five hits and struck out three.
Pekin?s Brandi Millikin was 3 for 4, Paige Jensen had two hits and five RBI and Cheyann Lankford knocked in two runs and scored three times. Tori Davis, Maranda Baker and Caylee Johnson had two hits apiece, while Brittany Gillam crossed home plate four times.
?We swung the bats really well tonight, but I thought all three phases of our game were again good. Offense was real good, pitching was good and the defense did pretty well,? Marlay said.
The Panthers (21-11, 12-5 SEISC north), winners of nine of their last 10 games, wrap up the regular season with a game at Mediapolis Monday. Then, they take on Cardinal to open regional play Tuesday.
