String of car burglaries reported in Ainsworth

AINSWORTH - A string of car burglaries have been reported in Ainsworth in the early mornings of Aug. 28 and 29.
According to the Washington County Communications Media Report, at approximately 7:07 a.m., on Wednesday, Aug. 28, a caller in the 700 block of Pine Drive reported his car was rummaged through, the inside was trashed but nothing was missing. The door handles to his second vehicle were all broken off.
An officer responded and found several cars on the street had been broken into. Two cars in the 600 block of Pine Drive were reportedly broken into with $4 in cash stolen from one and $60 in cash stolen from the other. A third car on that block was reportedly broken into, but nothing was reported as stolen.
Cars in the 700 block of north Railroad, 500 block of Lincoln and 700 block of Lincoln Street were rummaged through but nothing was reported missing. A car in the 200 block of Second Street was reportedly broken into and a Chrome book with a black carrying case and a red Under Armour backpack were reported missing.
On Thursday, Aug. 29, at approximately 4:47 a.m., a caller reported a suspicious subject in all dark clothing pulling a large blue recycling bin with a yellow lid, westbound in the alley of the 200 block of Third Street. Two officers responded. Three vehicles were reportedly rummaged through, but nothing was missing.
Washington County Sherrif Jared Schneider told The Union on Thursday afternoon that an active investigation was underway and they had no further information at the time.
