WASHINGTON — Students from the Washington FFA, joined by county conservation staff, Washington Mayor Jaron Rosien, Halycon House resident Clyde Pearce and members of the Washington Tree Committee, planted around 20 trees near Willow Pond along the Kewash Nature Trail last week.
“Giving of your time and labor today will also give to the many others that visit this park for generations to come,” Rosien said in a proclamation at the event. “Thank you for taking time to improve our community.”
Tree Committee Chair Marde McConnel said the belated arbor day celebration went well.
““It was a perfect day,” she said. “Enthusiastic kids helping plant, several generations represented, city/county/school partnership, good weather and lovely trees planted for the future enjoyment of Washington County residents strolling, walking, running or biking on the Kewash Nature Trail.”
