Residents at SunnyBrook Assisted Living in Mt. Pleasant received their first round of COVID-19 vaccines Monday.
Executive Director Jason Murphy said that Henry County Public Health set up the clinic at SunnyBrook.
'I want to thank the Henry County Public Health team for coming in and doing that,” Murphy said. 'They set up the clinic and did a wonderful job working with us.”
Murphy said that nearly all of the residents of the 46-apartment facility were vaccinated Monday. They received the Moderna vaccine.
'A lot of our residents feel grateful and blessed,” he said. 'Many of them are tired of living like we have been, and they just want to get back to some semblance of normal living.”
The residents are scheduled to receive their second dose of the vaccine on Feb. 1.
The SunnyBrook staff started getting their vaccines on Dec. 22, Murphy said.
'We had about 10 get it,” he said. 'That's about a third of our staff.”
Murphy said that SunnyBrook has held up well during the COVID-19 pandemic.
'We've been fortunate,” he said. 'We haven't had COVID in our building.
'We haven't had any outbreaks here.”
