No matter what time of the year it is, injuries and illness are an ever-present part of life from time to time. Thankfully, hospitals and medical clinics are also a staple in American society to help get rid of the bumps, bruises and other maladies that we all come face to face with occasionally.
With a busy life to lead, wouldn?t it be nice to have an easy, accessible and legitimate approach to getting back on the healthy side sooner? Well, for those in the Winfield and surrounding communities, Sunrise Terrace Nursing and Rehabilitation Center might have just what you are looking for.
In the last three years, Sunrise Terrace has admitted 92 patients and safely transitioned 80 of those patients back to their homes as part of their new Get Well?Go Home program.
?Sometimes people come to our facilities and are ultimately too ill to return home, but a lot of the time we are able to provide them with the care they need so that they can go back home in an average of about 26 days,? says Sunrise Terrace administrator, Peggy Beaty.
Those admitted as part of the Get Well?Go Home program are provided with a furnished, private room that includes a flat screen television, Internet access, a personal refrigerator and a dining area.
?The program is designed to be a holistic approach to recovery, which really does speed up recovery time in most cases,? explains Beaty.
As part of the Get Well?Go Home program, Sunrise is able to treat patients in their therapy gym, which includes physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy equipment to assist patients in their recovery. Sunrise Terrace?s therapy team specializes in treatments for post-orthopedic surgery, wound care, and neurological and neuromuscular disorders, among others.
While Sunrise Terrace does provide a variety of therapy and wellness programs, Beaty insist that she would always prefer that, young or old, people would strive to remain healthy and active.
?While sometimes injury or illnesses are unavoidable, I think stimulating yourself daily through mental and physical activity is really important in terms of promoting a healthy lifestyle,? says Beaty.
At Sunrise Terrace, Beaty tries to facilitate an active lifestyle among residents by planning various outings and activities to get people stretching their muscles and using their minds in fun and creative ways.
?Something we love to do at Sunrise is to garden when the weather allows,? Beaty explains. ?The residents love it, and it?s also an easy and fun way to exercise.?
When life does throw a curveball at your health, Beaty and the rest of the staff at Sunrise Terrace say the Get Well?Go Home program might be a valid healthcare option to consider and encourage people to visit Sunrise Terrace in Winfield.
?We love for people to come visit and take a tour of our facilities,? says Beaty. ?I think people will see that Sunrise Terrace has a very energetic and positive nursing staff. When you become a patient at Sunrise, you and your loved ones really do become part of our family.?
