Superintendents react to Iowa School Board scandal
The Iowa Association of School Boards (IASB) has fired its executive director for allegedly raising her own salary without the approval of the board of directors. The Associated Press reported that the IASB voted unanimously to terminate executive director Maxine Kilcrease, and is now investigating why she was being paid $367,000 a year when her salary was set at $210,000.

Mid-Prairie Superintendent Mark Schneider said that he is still waiting to see how the IASB handles the issue before he commits to renew the school district?s membership in the association.
?We are evaluating the fee we pay for the association?s services,? said Schneider. The fee school districts pay is based on the number of pupils in the district. In the case of Mid-Prairie, the annual fee is $2,500. Schneider said it is too bad that a few people have tarnished the reputation of the entire association.
?The Iowa School Board is now under a cloud of suspicion because of the actions of a few individuals,? said Schneider.
