A superload successfully made the journey over the bridge on G36 Wednesday.
A portion of G36 was closed during the midmorning to allow Wolfe House Movers, LLC, of Bernville, Pennsylvania to move a transformer from Washington.
The load was 18-feet-six-inches wide and weighted almost 750,000 pounds and required the movers redistribute the load as it crossed the bridge over the South Fork of Long Creek. This was the second time a load of this size made the trip from Washington to Millersburg.
The move in April had a learning curve to make sure the infrastructure of the bridge was protected, said Scott Knudtson, captain of Motor Vehicle Enforcement. He also said County Engineer Jacob Thorius was at the site for this trip and the previous trip to assist.
Knudtson said the people were well prepared and it took around 10 minutes for the load to make it over the bridge to continue out of town.
