The Washington County Board of Supervisors voted to defer the approval of a contract with the Washington County Ambulance Service at its regular meeting Tuesday morning. Washington County Ambulance Service put in a bid for $150,000 to supply ambulance services to the county. The county would still be responsible for supplying the ambulances. Supervisor Steve Davis said that a few loose ends need to be tied before the county can agree to the contract. The county?s current ambulance contract expires July 1.
Davis told the other supervisors that seven entities inquired about the ambulance contract but only the current provider, Washington County Ambulance Service, sent back a quote.
?There are a few things in the contract that we want to discuss with Richard [Young],? said Davis.
Richard Young is the ambulance director of Washington County Ambulance Service. He was in the audience during the meeting, as were several other members of the ambulance service. Young said after the meeting that he hoped the supervisors would have agreed to the contract.
?I was disappointed it was deferred today,? said Young. ?There are only 15 days left. We?ll have to see now what they want to negotiate.?
Young said he didn?t know what information the county was lacking.
?I answered all the questions in their proposal,? he remarked. ?Davis said that they want more information. I don?t know what it is until I see the questions.?
