The Jefferson County Board of Supervisors approved a request for $1,500 from the Jefferson County Wellness Action Coalition during this morning?s board meeting.
The funds will go toward engaging the University of Northern Iowa?s Institute for Decision Making to assist with the development of a strategic plan to implement health and wellness programs. Fairfield has already allocated $2,000 to the plan?s development, and coalition representative Detra Dettmann said an additional $500 will be requested from the Jefferson County Health Center.
During last week?s board meeting, supervisor Steve Burgmeier said he would like to see the funding come out of the board of health?s budget. However, supervisor Dick Reed thought that was unnecessary.
?The bottom line is it all comes out of the county?s coffers,? Reed said.
