T-Bone totals two cars in Riverside

RIVERSIDE — A crash at the Casey’s General Store east of Highway 218 in Riverside totaled two vehicles Friday, according to an officer’s preliminary accident report from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

The report said a Ford Fusion, driving west by a man from Williamsburg, struck a Toyota Corolla “in the passenger side door,” as the latter, driven by a woman from Columbus Junction, was attempting to turn into the gas station’s driveway.

The Corolla Driver was transported to the University of Iowa Hospital after the crash according to the report, which said hers was the only injury but that both vehicles were a “total loss.” Both drivers were wearing seat belts.

Although the preliminary accident report named both of the drivers, The Union will not identify them in this article, as the report said their families had not been notified at the time of its release.

The report said no citations were issued for the crash.
