Main Street Washington is putting together the ?Taste of Washington? Saturday evening, which will feature special deals at six participating restaurants in downtown Washington. The event will last from 5:30 to 9 p.m. and will include live entertainment.
Gary McCurdy and Randy Swift will perform from 7 to 9 p.m. at Dodici?s Shop, east of the square. McCurdy, whose nickname is the ?Tubador,? will play tuba while Swift will be on guitar.
Elisabeth Tinnes will sing and play guitar from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Coffee Corner, south of the square.
Main Street Director Amy Vetter said Saturday will be the first time Tinnes has performed in a Main Street event. Vetter also said that she is looking forward to listening to McCurdy and Swift, a couple of musicians who have performed at numerous Main Street events.
The participating businesses will each offer a $3 item from their menu. Vetter said that some of the items might be side dishes while others may be desserts. She said that each business will offer an item that is unique to its business.
?We encourage people to try all six restaurants, which you can do for under $20,? said Vetter. ?For some people, the portions may be too large. If that?s the case, they can share their meal with someone else.?
Because of the cold winter weather, there will be a minibus in the downtown area that night to transport the patrons from one restaurant to another.
