Taxation and state budget to take center stage at upcoming forum

The Mt. Pleasant Area Chamber Alliance Government Affairs Committee invites the public to a forum with area lawmakers Saturday, Feb. 27, from 8:30 to 10 a.m., in the International Room of Chadwick Library at Iowa Wesleyan College. The event is free and open to the public.

The forum topic is ?Taxation and State Budgeting.? Rep. Dave Heaton, R-Mt. Pleasant, and Sen. Rich Taylor, D-Mt. Pleasant, are both scheduled to attend. Joining the local legislators will be Rep. Tom Sands, R-Wapello, chair of the House Ways and Means committee.

Two panelists will participate in the discussion- City of Mt. Pleasant Mayor Steve Brimhall and Shahid Hussain, Assistant Professor of Accounting and Finance at Iowa Wesleyan University. Dan McCabe, board president of the Mt. Pleasant Municipal Utilities and Vice President of the Mt. Pleasant Area Development Commission, will moderate.

Chamber Alliance Legislative Forums are the fourth Saturday of the month during the legislative session in the International Room of Chadwick Library on the Iowa Wesleyan University campus.
