KALONA — Terry Spitzer of Kalona recently received a Quilt of Valor, presented by Jane Messer, a member of the Quilt of Valor Foundation, recognizing his service in the United States Army.
“A Quilt of Valor is a healing and comforting gesture, a tangible thing that can be wrapped around oneself, and know that someone thinks about them with love and caring admiration for their service,” said a press release about the presentation.
Spitzer has been an associate with Walmart in Washington, a paramedic with Washington County Ambulance, an inaugural member of Kalona First Responders, and a lifeguard and pool manager for the Kalona city pool. He also served as a flight instructor for several years in the Washington County area.
