Thanks to all who helped with tree planting

Thanks to all who made the 70-tree planting at the Washington Wellness Park on Oct. 16 such a huge success!

Recently, there were also 12 trees planted at Elm Grove Cemetery and 10 trees in other parks.

The tree purchase of over $10,000 came from a large Derecho DNR grant, and a Washington Iowa Betterment Foundation grant was appreciated too.

The Washington Tree Committee and City of Washington financially helped to make the projects possible too.

We’re so GRATEFUL TO ALL THE VOLUNTEERS who helped in the planting of the nearly 100 trees: Washington softball and baseball parents and kids, WHS agronomy students and their teacher, Noon Kiwanis and Rotary Friends, Washington Tree Committee members and other very caring volunteers.

THANKS EVERYONE, for helping us “put down roots for the future in Washington, Iowa.”
