The Wall That Heals

The traveling replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, known as The Wall That Heals, travels through downtown Fairfield Tuesday afternoon. The wall is being set up today at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds. Once it is assembled, the wall will be open to the public 24 hours a day at no charge. A 'welcome home' ceremony will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday at the fairgrounds. A closing ceremony is scheduled for 1 p.m. Sunday, before the wall is taken down at 2 p.m. so it can travel to its next location. Fairfield is one of only two cities in Iowa to host The Wall That Heals this year, the other being Newton.
