AINSWORTH — A collision totaled two SUVs and injured three people at the intersection of Vine Avenue and Highway 92 Saturday night, according to a Washington County officer’s preliminary accident report.
The report said Nancy Wombacher, of Iowa City, was cited for failing to yield while entering the highway, which led to the crash with Winfield resident Terrance Beames. Both drivers were wearing seat belts. The report said a third person was injured in the collision, but didn’t specify their identity or if they were a passenger in either vehicle, or whether they’d used a seat belt.
The incident’s entry in a county Call For Service Log said three people on the scene had “minor injuries” and were transported to a University of Iowa Hospital by the Washington County Ambulance Service.
In addition to a county deputy and ambulance, police said the Ainsworth Fire Department, Ainsworth Quick Response Service and Washington Fire Department also responded to the call shortly after 7:30 p.m.
County police records said a state accident report was filed for the collision, but a representative from the Iowa State Patrol District 13 Headquarters in Mt. Pleasant said the agency didn’t have documents for a crash on that date, as of Monday morning.
