Three mishaps reported to sheriff?s office
Henry County Sheriff?s deputies recently responded to a single vehicle mishap, a two-vehicle collision and a car running into a building.
Deputies investigated a single-vehicle rollover on Saturday, Nov. 14, in the 1800 grid of 305th Street. The investigation determined that Vanessa Penrod, 17, of Mt. Pleasant, was driving a Chevrolet Malibu when an animal stepped into the roadway.

Henry County Sheriff?s deputies recently responded to a single vehicle mishap, a two-vehicle collision and a car running into a building.
Deputies investigated a single-vehicle rollover on Saturday, Nov. 14, in the 1800 grid of 305th Street. The investigation determined that Vanessa Penrod, 17, of Mt. Pleasant, was driving a Chevrolet Malibu when an animal stepped into the roadway.
Penrod swerved to miss the animal and her vehicle went into a ditch coming to rest on its side. The vehicle sustained damage of $4,000.
Officials also investigated a two-vehicle accident on Nov. 14, that occurred in the 1400 grid of Highway 78. Dwight Manning, 58, of Wayland, was driving a Chevrolet HHR that collided with an Olds Regency, driven by Michael Skriver, no age or address given.
Injuries were reported as two occupants were taken to the Henry County Health Center for evaluation. The collision caused disabling damage to both vehicles with a $10,000 estimated cost of repairs. Manning was cited for failure to maintain control of a motor vehicle, a simple misdemeanor.
A vehicle struck a building on Friday, Nov. 13, in Winfield. According to the accident report, Samuel Edwards, 22, of Winfield, was driving a Nissan Maxima that collided with the front of the Casey?s General Store.
Edwards was cited for driving under suspension, failure to prove security against liability and failure to display registration plate, all simple misdemeanors. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $1,500 while damage to the building was estimated at $5,000.
A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
