Three-vehicle accident Thursday

Failure to yield resulted in a three-vehichle accident at the intersection of Washington and Prairie Streets in Mt. Pleasant.

On Thursday, Nov. 15 at approximately 7:43 a.m., the Mt. Pleasant Police Department investigated a three-vehicle accident at the intersection of Prairie street. and Washington street.

A 2012 Chevy driven by Mackenzie Stewart, of Ottumwa, was traveling eastbound on Washington Street in the outside lane when a 2017 Ford driven by Andrew Wright of Washington, Missouri, who was traveling westbound on Washington attempted to make a left turn onto Prairie Street.

Both vehicles collided at the intersection and then struck a third vehicle driven by Jerry Bush, of Mt. Pleasant, who was stopped on Prairie Street, waiting for traffic.

Minor injuries were reported at the scene. Wright was issued a citation for failure to yield upon left turn. The estimated damage to all three vehicles was $15,000. The Mt. Pleasant Police Department was assisted at the scene by HCSO.
