NEW LONDON ? The Tigers came up with a pair of wins, 4-3 and 8-4, in Thursday night softball against Van Buren.
In the opener, the teams took turns putting one run at a time on the board, resulting in a tie score 3-3, at the end of the seventh inning, which sent the contest into extra frames. It was the New London girls who took the win with a run in the bottom of the eighth.
In the nightcap, however, the Tigers took the game handily with help from two big innings: they scored three in the first and four in the sixth. Their other run came in the third.
Van Buren couldn?t do anything until they put up four runs in the seventh, but it wasn?t enough.
The Tigers are now 14-11 on the season.
They play in the Mt. Pleasant Softball Tournament tomorrow at East Lake Park. The varsity part of the tournament begins at 3 p.m.
