Titles in Washington film festival released

WASHINGTON — A total of 61 independent film makers submitted their work to be exhibited at Farm to Film (F2F), Washington’s first international film festival. Farm to Film will be held May 20-21, 2023.
Members of the F2F board each viewed one half of the entries and scored each one. The films will be shown at five venues: The Washington City Hall Council Chambers; Patricia’s Room Dodici Shop: the Washington Public Library; Art Domestique and the State Theater where local film historian Michael Zahs will kick off the festival with a presentation Saturday morning May 20. The F2F Board has selected the following films to be shown:
A Day With Lily: A successful young woman has to confront the abuse she endured as a child when she unexpectedly has to care for a five year old. Directed by M.G. White.
A Long Way From Nowhere: What compels a person to run 150 miles through the desert in the summer? Directed by Paul Scheuring, Chris Wared.
A Mind Like Still Water: Two women’s lives are changed when they attend a world-renowned horse clinic. Directed by Dylan Silver.
A Place To Grow: The third film in the award-winning Fairfield History series, a touching revelation into the hearts and minds of the people who work the soil in this southeast Iowa community. Directed by Dick DeAngelis.
After the Gunflint: On a family fishing trip, Grandpa has a heart attack, leaving his granddaughter to find her way out of the deep woods. Directed by J.D. O’Brien.
Ahead of Their Time: This film celebrates the entrepreneurial spirit that inspired growth in and around Fairfield, Iowa. Directed by Dick DeAngelis.

Be Wild to Rewild: What is wildness and to what extent is the concept of domestication based on a fear of the unfamiliar? Directed by Dick DeAngelis.
Combined Efforts: A documentary about a community theater group in Iowa City that seeks to include people with disabilities into the creative arts via stage performances. Directed by Jake Daniels.
Cover Crops and Weed Control: Learn how cover crops work in this animated video. Directed by Nick Ohde.
DA Union: A colorful look at a close-knit Wisconsin community where farmers and residents gather at a rural tavern and talk about the events of the day. Directed by William John Roach.

Finding My Edge: A young woman sets her sights on the Tahoe 200 Ultramarathon to find the edge of her capability. Directed by Jennifer Smith.
Green Manure Crops and Nitrogen: An animated feature shows how green manure crops add nitrogen to soil, saving farmers money on fertilizer. Directed by Nick Ohde.
Greener Pastures: An intimate look at American farming told through the stories of farmers living at the intersection of climate change, globalization and a mental health crisis. Directed by Samuel-Ali Mispoorian.
Jack Schlesselman: There You Have It: An autobiography of a Belle Plaine, Iowa band director. Directed by Miguel Angel tarango, Schlesselman-Tarango.
