The top-ranked Mustangs (Class 2A) didn?t disappoint, topping Pekin 15-1 in a five-inning game Wednesday in Packwood.

The one-loss Mustangs had a total of 14 hits in the five-inning game. After trailing 1-0 in the first, they rolled off four runs in the second inning and another 10 between innings four and five.
On the other end, Bailey Donovan tallied Pekin?s only hit, a single in the first inning to drive in Josh Sterling. The two first-inning baserunners were the only hiccups for Davis County pitcher Clint Foster in an otherwise dominant start. Foster fanned 13 Panthers in five innings.
Pekin starter Nazareth Rambo allowed four runs in two innings before leaving the game due to an arm injury. Seth Jensen pitched the final three frames for Pekin.
The Panthers (14-14, 9-4 SEISC north) host IMS Friday.
