Tractor Supply Co opens in Washington

WASHINGTON — After buying Orscheln Farm & Home, Tractor Supply Co. held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate its grand opening in Washington on Friday.

The business also presented $500 checks to the local fire department, FFA and 4-H chapters, as well as PAWS & More and veteran organization HERO.

“This community is very tight-knit, and they do a phenomenal job of supporting each other,” Store Manger Angie Pfeiffer said. “It was a chance to give back to them, for what they bring to business for us. It was a very nice opportunity, to do that for them.”

While Tractor Supply offers a similar store and similar products to the former Orscheln store, Pfeiffer said the new setup had a few changes, including “value-added” programs like a repair and replacement plan and a private label credit card.

She said the transition was going well.

“We are still filling up our store, it’s been a very lengthy, complex process but the community has been very supportive,” she said. “We definitely want to find our groove again and get the store fully stocked so we can find everybody what they need.”
