Drivers heading north on Highway 1 today can expect delays due to patching being done on the roadway. This photo shows crews digging out a broken portion of the highway between 130th and 140th streets, which they will repair later today. The unidentified woman operating the stop sign said work would continue until at least 7 p.m. today. According to the Iowa Department of Transportation?s Fairfield construction office, a pavement patching project on Iowa Highway 1 will restrict traffic from the south city limits of Fairfield to Iowa Highway 78 near Richland through June 15. Flaggers will assist traffic through the work area. The contractor will be working from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily, but normal driving conditions will resume when workers are not present. TEK Builder Inc. of Mount Ayr is the prime contractor for the $260,000 patching project.
