Fairfield JV softball split a pair of games with Central Lee Thursday, taking the first game 14-1 before dropping the second game 5-1.
Fairfield produced 11 hits in the four-inning opener, scoring nine runs in the second inning and tacking on another five over the next two frames.
Kelsey Roberts knocked in two runs with a double and single, Taylor Ferrel had a pair of singles and Sierra Simmons had one RBI on two base knocks. Emma Kuehl, Paris Bickham and Lindsey Repp all finished with two RBI. Mikaela Amendt allowed only one Central Lee run in the four-inning start, and she struck out four.
In game two, the Lady Hawks scored runs in the first two frames and led 2-0 until a three-run fifth inning put the Trojans away for good.
Fairfield?s Aspen Bowman tallied two base knocks, and Abby Adam, Delaney Neil and Sara Adam had one single apiece. Neil allowed five runs on 11 hits in the five-inning start.
?Unfortunately, we stranded bases loaded twice in this game,? said Fairfield coach Lisa Greenig. ?We had our chances, but we weren?t able to produce the hits with runners on base.?
Fairfield JV has a big day on tap Saturday at the Southeast Conference Classic in Mount Pleasant. The Trojans open the tournament with a game against Washington at 9 a.m., play Mount Pleasant at 10:45 a.m. and conclude the day with a 12:30 game vs. Keokuk.
